In the last two decades, there has been an exponential increase in collaborations between researchers/ technologists from the computing sciences and researchers from the social and behavioural sciences. The term computational social science (CSS) is used collectively to refer to these joint efforts focused on using computational approaches to study social and behavioural phenomena.
When adequately grounded in scientific evidence and appropriately applied in practice, CSS can help increase our understanding of social and behavioural issues and provide effective solutions to real-world problems.
The purpose of this informal conversation session is to engage scientists, practitioners, and public officers involved in policymaking and provide them a platform to discuss the contributions and challenges in applying CSS approaches and consider issues from different perspectives and in multiple dimensions.
