How can policymakers and pension administrators make old-age pension systems more financially resilient in developing and developed countries? What is the role of financial literacy in retirement and economic decision-making?
This poster exhibition presents a selection of student-led, Asia-focused research projects carried out as part of the graduate coursework for the "Pensions & Retirement Policies" module, alongside new findings from national surveys on financial literacy and financial capability in Singapore. The 2-week exhibition (from 3-13 March 2026) serves as an open platform for sharing applied research and for fostering critical reflection on addressing financial resilience in retirement systems.
Join us for evidence-based insights on the topic. Guests will have the opportunity to engage "live" with the students and researchers from 2-5pm on 4 & 9 March.
Researchers and Students

Assoc Prof Joelle Fong
Joelle H. Fong is Associate Professor at NUS. She holds a PhD in Applied Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Joelle’s research interests include pension economics, insurance markets, financial literacy and retirement, longevity risk management, and long-term care financing

Dr Talia Ye Tao
Talia Ye Tao is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Family and Population Research, NUS. She is currently a team member of the project Health Implications of Gender Inequality funded by Ministry of Education. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2023.

Dr Xin Wen
Xin Wen is a Postdoctoral Fellow at NUS. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of New South Wales. Her research agenda focuses on household and individual financial decision-making, with interests in financial literacy, population aging, gender, and financial well-being.

Asst Prof Yuhao Ba
Yuhao Ba is an Assistant Professor in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS. His research explores how stakeholders from the private and nonprofit sectors work with the government to collectively address policy challenges within the realm of environment and sustainability.

Yiyun Xia
Yiyun is a Research Associate at the Institute for Environment and Sustainability, NUS. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from LKYSPP. Her research focuses on collaborative environmental governance, as well as governance systems and policy processes in Southeast Asia’s energy transition.

Mr Chakorn Loetnithat
Chakorn is currently a PhD student at NUS where his research centers on pension systems, public policy, economic development, and financial inclusion. He has worked as a researcher at the Research Institute in Thailand, where he led projects addressing national economic issues and public policy.

Mr Lu Xu
Lu Xu is a Research Associate at NUS. He holds a master’s degree in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. His research focuses on financial education and cost-effectiveness, guided by economic and organizational theories.
